Spanish Wells doesn’t have a Potcake “problem.” They have very strict rules about loose dogs, and for the most part, the community complies.

However, recently the island veterinarian, Dr. Bizzell, published a very dire plea for help with their cat problem.

So, maybe you saw the bowls, hidden around the islands like Easter Eggs and that’s what brought you to our website. Well, that’s kindof what they are. Treats for the innocent and vulnerable potcakes and potcats. Since we have approximately 3 weeks before Dr. Bizzell comes back, we should be building trust with our feral neighbors and food is the best way to do that. The bowls can be left out from under eaves so rain can fill them in between feedings. And once we learn of Dr. Bizzell’s return to the island, we should capture as many as we can and bring them in for care.

I have offered to pay for the first 10 neuters of male strays brought in. There are some pregnant females who are going to need a safe space to lay while they wean their kittens, about six weeks.
